Getting ready

Plan Your Next Steps

  1. Plan Your Family-building Path

DOP welcomes LGBTQ+ intended parents. Tell our coordinator about your goals, treating clinic and embryo arrangements. Some families need an egg donor and surrogate; others need one service.

  2. Coordinate with Your Clinic

Your specialist determines the treatment plan, including questions about donor sperm, reciprocal IVF or fertility preservation. Donor and surrogate arrangements have separate screening and agreements. DOP recommends creating embryos before surrogate matching.

  3. Establish Legal Parentage

Ask independent counsel about the agreements and parentage procedure for your family and jurisdiction. If you live abroad, include advice on home-country recognition and newborn travel documents.

  4. Review the Arrangement

Discuss agency coordination, clinic care, independent legal counsel and funding responsibilities before signing. Ask which expenses are included and which are billed separately.
